Glen and Kelly have 35 years of experience in farm and ranch management. They are the former general managers for Bar None Ranches - a 10,000 acre Alberta mixed farming and livestock operation. Glen and Kelly own and manage a cow-calf operation on the Timber Ridge Conservation Site and own the Hall & Hall Custom Feedlot located near Stavely, Alberta. They are passionate about stewardship and the rural community. They have extensive experience working collaboratively with a wide variety of conservation organizations including the Alberta Conservation Association, Ducks Unlimited, Cows & Fish, the Foothills Forage and Grazing Association, the Oldman Watershed Council, and SALTS. Kelly is the current Vice-President of SALTS, past President of the Stavely and District Agricultural Society, and currently sits on the Community Advisory Board of the Alberta Land Institute. Both Glen and Kelly are currently directors on the Stavely Agricultural Society Board and the Stavely Indoor Professional Rodeo. The Halls are also past recipients of the Alberta Beef Environmental Stewardship Award.
Burke has a combined 40 years of ranching experience including managing multiple large ranches in Canada, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. He is a former Operations Vice President of AgReserves Inc., commonly known as “Deseret Ranches” with responsibilities in southern Alberta, the United States and Argentina. Burke holds a Masters in Agricultural Economics, has taught at the University of Wyoming and Brigham Young University, and has provided consulting services in several different countries.
Mac has 40 years of ranch management experience and owns and operates the Rocking P Ranch located west of Nanton. He is a co-founder of the Pekisko Group, sits on the current SALTS board and is a member of the Western Stockgrowers Association. Mac has also been a former councilor for the MD of Ranchland, past president of the Nanton Agricultural Society, and was a member of the Special Places 2000 Committee for the Whaleback.
Rick brings 35 years of wildlife research and management experience to the venture including holding the position of Wildlife Manager for Deseret Land and Livestock in Utah for 15 years. He is an internationally recognized biologist, author, and public speaker and is the recipient of numerous industry related awards from organizations such as the Society for Range Management, Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies, and the State of Utah. Rick has served as the past president of the Foundation for Quality Resource Management and helped found Utah’s Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit private landowner incentive program in conjunction with Utah’s Division of Wildlife Resources.
Charley has over 30 year ranch management and range monitoring experience. He currently operates his family's 80,000 acre ranch located near Tensleep, Wyoming. Charley developed the Land EKG range monitoring system which is currently being utilized on millions of acres of ranchlands. He is a range management consultant for a diverse cliental of owners and operators of many large ranches throughout the western United States, Canada, and Australia. Charley is also the exclusive 3rd Party monitoring agent for the Savory Institute in the United States.
Dan has a decade of executive ranch management experience and is co-founder, President, and Chief Operating Officer of Carrus Land Systems, LLC a diversified agricultural investment and property management firm operating in the United States. Former General Counsel, Symbiotics LLC a hydropower development firm with offices in Canada, Idaho, Oregon, and Utah. Command Judge Advocate (Major/0-4), US Army National Guard. 2010 Appointee, Utah Governor’s Stream Access Task Force. Dan graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arizona Law.
Fred has over 30 years of animal behavior research related to both livestock and wildlife. He is a pre-eminent scientist, internationally acclaimed speaker, author, and award-winning university professor. Fred is also a past Director of the BEHAVE Consortium.
Nicole’s experience includes 20 years as a natural resource economist specializing in free-market environmental goods and services. She holds a PhD in Forest & Environmental Economics and has a strong background in ranch and forest economics. Nicole is an award-winning educator, author, and freelance consultant.
Linda has 30 years of experience in conservation-oriented ranch management. While working for The Nature Conservancy, she managed the 30,000 acre Sycan Marsh project in Oregon and then the historic 60,000 acre Matador ranch located near Malta, Montana. She was instrumental in founding the award-winning Ranchers Stewardship Alliance. Linda currently raises sheep on a small prairie ranch and does consulting work related to range, wildlife and livestock.
Trevor has over 20 years of ranch management and livestock behavior experience. He is the owner of “Weenoona” station, Gilgandra, Australia. Trevor is an experienced livestock trader who specializes in aggregating and upgrading small lots of animals on pasture. Aiding in his success has been his passion and knack for low-stress livestock handling and training other land managers in the art.
